
Twenty four sailors from various units across the Belize Coast Guard have graduated following their successful completion of the Petty Officer Class Three Course 01/21. The sailors graduated at a simple ceremony held at the Fleet conference room, Belize Coast Guard headquarters, Belize City on Thursday, May 13, 2021.
Seaman Estevan Keh received the Best Graduating Student and was pinned on spot, while Seaman Filberto Pop and Seaman Norielli Cruz got second and third place respectively.
The PO3 course aimed to equip the participants with the skills to lead, develop and effectively administer a squad of sailors both ashore or afloat. Training was conducted over a 4 weeks time frame.
In his address to course, Ag Commandant, CDR Gregory Soberanis highlighted the importance of self-disciple as the most pertinent asset for a successful military career. “Don’t ever forget the Coast Guard Mission, Vision and Ethos, and the responsibility that falls upon us as leaders.” he said. CDR Soberanis also reminded the sailors to maintain and follow all protocols established to eradicate and fight COVID-19 and encouraged the sailors to get vaccinated ASAP.
